Why use reusable bags when paper or plastic bags are given away for free?
Neela bags are cost-effective, durable and convenient to use. In just one of our bags, you can fit the same amount of groceries that would fill 3 plastic bags! By purchasing our bags, you are making a small change in your daily routine that will have a huge impact on our environment. Reduce, reuse, recycle!

Can I really make a difference?
Plastic bags have become a common part of most people's shopping routine. Take a moment to think about how many paper or plastic bags you go through in a week. Between our two families' multiple weekly grocery store trips, pharmacy excursions and the always exciting trip to Target, our plastic bag tally comes in high, at around 28 per week. That's almost 1,500 bags each year. And that's just our two families! If we alone can keep nearly 1,500 plastic bags away from certain death in a landfill, where they would hang out for hundreds of years, imagine the impact we could have on the environment if we all stopped using paper and plastic bags. Our families made the change easily with Neela bags. Now so can yours!

Are plastic bags really such a problem?
Plastic bags are inexpensive, plentiful and functional. But these benefits come at great cost to the environment. It takes hundreds of years for plastic bags to break down. They clog drains and waterways, kill marine life, use a tremendous amount of energy to create and are costly to collect and recycle. It is estimated that four to five trillion plastic bags are used annually worldwide. Making the switch to use Neela bags is a small change you CAN make!

But I choose paper at the grocery store!
Paper is actually not a better choice. According to the EPA, paper bags emit 70% more global warming gases than plastic bags in their manufacturing process. Additionally, Americans use over 10 billion paper bags annually, consuming 14 million trees. An estimated 80% of paper bags end up in landfills where they are unable to biodegrade due to lack of oxygen. It takes 91% less energy to recycle a pound of plastic than it takes to recycle a pound of paper.

I already reuse or return my plastic bags to the store for recycling - isn't that good enough?
You are part of the green elite! Only 1% of plastic bags are actually recycled. We know that many plastic bags are reused as trash can liners, kids' lunch boxes and to pick up Buddy's droppings. It's great to reuse the ones we have, but we certainly don't need hundreds per year. Like candywrappers, millions of plastic bags end up as litter. So - help spread the word to your friends who may not be as green as you!

Why should I care?
Our ecosystem is fragile, and it’s important to take care of our planet for our children and future generations. By making a little effort to change our daily routines, we can help ensure the vitality of our beautiful, yet fragile, planet.

What are Neela bags made of?
Our bags are made from 100% Polypropylene (PP or #5 plastic) nonwoven fabric. Polypropylene is affordable, recyclable, durable, non-toxic and allergy free. Polypropylene does utilize a small amount of petroleum, but that enables it to work a lot harder than your average plastic bag. Our bags carry far more than paper and plastic and can last for approximately two years. Because of the durable, soft and lightweight qualities of nonwoven polypropylene fabric (NWPP), it makes for a user friendly bag and a wonderful alternative to standard paper and plastic bags. Our Denali Collection bags are made from 100% rip-stop nylon which is sturdy, lightweight and machine washable.

Are Neela bags washable? Are they recyclable?
Yes. You can toss your Denali bags in the washing machine and hang them to dry. For all other Neela bags, we recommend that you hand wash and line dry them, providing you with several years of continued use. Many cities accept plastic (#5) in their recycling program, and if they don’t yet, please ask if they will! If your area doesn’t recycle, send your used bags back to Neela and we’ll recycle them for you.

Why was there no sales receipt included in my package?
In an ongoing effort to reduce our packaging materials, we will not include a sales receipt in your order. You will receive an order confirmation via email once your order has been placed. Should you need a copy of the sales receipt, please do not hesitate to contact us and we'd be happy to send you a copy. Thank you for your understanding....The trees appreciate it!

What is Neela bag's return policy?
If you're not happy with your Neela product, you may return it unused within 14 days for a refund of the purchase price. If there is a problem with your order, please contact us at info@neelabags.com or 877-540-3043 as soon as possible so we can resolve it. Why don't you offer other fabrics like bamboo or organic cotton?
We are always looking for new materials that are environmentally friendly, durable and affordable. We expect to have additional offerings in the coming months. We launched our first line with polypropylene bags and our goal is to get as many people as possible on board with changing consumption patterns now.

How long will it take to receive my order?
Orders will be shipped from our North Carolina warehouse within 2-3 business days. Delivery time will vary based on the shipping option you select in the order process. In most cases, shipments via USPS First-Class Mail are delivered within 5 days.
